Jordan Ehler "Doc" rocks! 05/05/2014 06:50 PM
Brian Robinson By not participating in the nursing home visitation program you are missing out on so much in your time at whitewater. Nowhere else in the country is this program offered at a college and nowhere else will you find a person like "Doc" to lead you. The residents that you will meet at the nursing homes will change your life and who knows by going to the nursing homes it could change your future. I used to visit, became a coordinator and now i am the Activity Director at one of the nursing homes in the program. If anything just give it a shot, you won't regret it!!! I sure haven't. 09/10/2006 06:57 PM
Marilyn Soderquist It is a joy to see this program in existence. Friend To Friend is much like your program. Friend To Friend began in 1974 in Des Moines WA (a mile southwest of SeaTac Airport). We recruit and match volunteers (in 5 Puget Sound counties) to visit one-on-one with residents in 270+ Nursing Homes, Assisted Living and Retirement Homes. I am always curious to hear about other visitation programs to Nursing Homes, Assisted Living and Retirement Homes. Keep up the good work. Our website: friendtofriendamerica.org Merry Christmas '05, Marilyn 12/06/2005 05:06 PM
Amanda Ramsey Being apart of the nursing home visits at Ridgestone brightened every Tuesday for me and my resident. Knowing that you have the power and capabitity to make someone laugh and make their day makes me as wonderful as I am. I enjoy my resident and I can't wait until the fall to go back and visit. 05/04/2005 02:46 PM
Sarah Marcet Being a nursing home coordinator was the best thing I could have done with my collegiate life. Its been almost a year since my last visit and I miss the program very much. I hope to one day design a program like this at the high school I work at. See you at On Campus Day!!! 03/23/2005 10:33 AM
Phill Klamm I was once told by one of my residents sons, "Thank you", and as I smiled at him and said, "It's truly my pleasure"...he stuck out his hand to stop me...looked me right in the eyes and said, "No...thank you, thank you for what you do". Touched by the show of sincerity and thanks we hugged. Friends...thats what its about...taking a human life and showing them love for who they truly are...taking the time to get to know someone. The things that we have all learned from those residents will never leave us...and to think that the memories of the Gladys' and Maries and of your residents lives on not only in you...but in everyone you share those stories with. Here's to Doc and Brenda for putting their lives into something so worthwhile...and for showing thousands of young college students and many others how to love and care with every piece of their God given body and mind. A gift from the O'Beirne's that I am forever grateful for. 03/22/2004 06:51 PM
Krissy Murren Just visiting and reminiscing on my days as a coordinator. Being part of this program was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had. Congratulations to all of you who have been a part of this amazing experience. You will miss it one day...I know I do! 01/30/2004 04:18 PM
Paula Schopen Hi everyone! I just want to say that I think this is an awesome program. I am really excited to be a coordinator, come second semester! :) 01/08/2004 08:21 PM
Beth (Savee) Lindorff Hi all! Great website! As a former coordinator, I can recall so many great visits to nursing homes in the Whitewater area. The students and coordinators make a meaningful difference in so many lives with each visit to a nursing home. Now that I am in the 'real world', I reminisce about NHVP and am very grateful I got to be a part of such a wonderful program. Thank you, Doc for all that you have done for the students and residents…you truly are an angel on earth. 12/08/2003 04:58 PM
Rachel I am really glad that I got involved in this program! It is so great to see the residents get so excited about the visits. They are all so fun and so easy to get along with! It is good knowing that by doing just a little, you are doing a lot for another person. 11/10/2003 08:27 PM
Lori Shefchik This program is truly amazing! The volunteers are wonderful, the residents are awesome, and we have a ton of fun together. I've been in this program for a long time and it's the best thing I have ever done. Anyone who has participated in this program has touched the lives and hearts of their residents and has also become a better person themself. This program makes a big difference in many peoples' lives everyday and I can't say enough great things about it. You should definately consider trying it! 10/23/2003 02:43 PM
Heather Hojnacki First I want to thank my group this semester...all of you are truly awesome :0) Every week you guys amaze and inspire me!! This program is only a few hours out of our hectic schedules, but means the most for our residents- who look forward to and appreciate every week we visit. Not only is this program for them, it is for us. It is a chance to get back out there and help the community, and really make a difference. Each and everyone of you are making a difference in the lives of our residence. Thank You!! Everyone is welcome to come with my group to Willowfield in Delevan, we leave at 6 p.m. from Winther :0) 10/20/2003 09:59 PM
